The Lexington Opera Society’s 2007 Prelude…! to “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!” is now but a happy memory.

Held on May 26, 2007at the Singletary Center for the Arts, the occasion drew more than 300 guests for an evening of outstanding food, wine, and entertainment.

Prelude…! raised a substantial amount of money to support the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and its programs. Liquor Barn and Bryant’s Rent-All were our generous event sponsors.

Guests, dressed as for a Hollywood premier, enjoyed wine-tasting courtesy of Liquor Barn; gourmet food from Annette Jett and Phil Dunn of Annette’s Catering; and live and silent auctions of dozens of enticing items ranging from fine arts, vintage wines, and personal pampering products to a “Traveling Wine Party for Ten” and a trip for two to the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

The successful as well as entertaining live auction was conducted by emcee Reed Polk and Walt Robertson, auctioneer from Fasig –Tipton.

The show stopper of the evening was a sneak preview of UKOT’s summer extravaganza, “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!” as several cast members serenaded party-goers. All in all, it was a spectacular evening.
