About Lexington Stage Costumes
When UKOT Director Everett McCorvey heard from local costumer Marie Henderson in 2003 that she was planning to sell off a large portion of her stock of theatrical and opera costumes, he decided that UKOT should take steps to acquire this stock for its future productions.
Early in 2004, McCorvey and LOS President Michael Morrill submitted a grant proposal to the Lucille Little Foundation for funds to purchase this stock from Henderson, and by summer of that year LOS was the proud owner of some 3,000 costumes ranging from Greek and Roman chitons to late 19th Century Victorian frock coats.
Over the past year, volunteers from the LOS Board and Bravo Guild have organized and cataloged these beautiful costumes, and many of them have appeared in recent UKOT productions and UK Opera Workshop "Scenes Night" performances. The costumes are housed in a suite in Victorian Square (conveniently close to the Lexington Opera House).
The Lexington Opera Society is now pleased to make these beautiful costumes available for rental to local and regional theatrical and opera production companies through Lexington Stage Costumes (LSC), a new LOS project. (See Photo Gallery)
LSC offers for rental several new sets of costumes designed and constructed by professional costumers: Madama Butterfly (Bob Haven), Suor Angelica (Jane Victor), The Magic Flute (Lucy Brown), and Gianni Schicchi and La Traviata (Marie Henderson), as well as a fine assortment of period costumes.
