Opera is flourishing in Central Kentucky, thanks to the University of Kentucky opera program, which is now recognized as one of the best in America. Lexington area opera lovers are fortunate to have access to this outstanding program and its talented young singers!
The Lexington Opera Society invites you to become a part of Central Kentucky's vibrant opera scene by joining Bravo Guild. Bravo Guild members are grass-roots fans whose knowledge of opera ranges from pre-novice to afficionado. Membership in Bravo Guild brings you up-close glimpses of the magical world of opera. You'll have opportunities to meet with members of UK Opera Theatre's dynamic faculty, to enjoy an exciting class offering in-depth study of operas and famous opera singers, and to attend vocal competitions in which talented young singers vie for scholarships. And you'll meet our own gifted singers through volunteer activities such as:
- putting on rehearsal dinners
- raising funds by selling opera-related merchandise at performances
- greeting patrons at opera performances and other events
- providing hands-on help backstage or in the costume shop
No special skills are required—only your enthusiasm!

Your financial contributions to Bravo Guild, whether large or small, are fully tax deductible, and as a member you'll also receive a ticket discount for most UKOT productions. Another membership benefit is invitations to Bravo Guild events, such as our fall dinner meeting and spring luncheon, where you can share your enthusiasm with other opera lovers and enjoy special performances and opera-related presentations.
