to the LEXINGTON OPERA SOCIETY
The mission of the Lexington Opera Society is to enhance the general public's awareness and appreciation of opera in central Kentucky and throughout the Commonwealth, primarily through support of the Opera Program at the University of Kentucky and the continuation of its educational and public programs.
In The Spotlight:
- The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and UK Opera Theatre team up to present a concert performance of Camille Saint-Saëns' Samson and Delilah (in French) at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 22, at the Singletary Center for the Fine Arts. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors and UK faculty/staff, $15 students and $10 children (plus processing fees). Call 859-257-4929 for tickets.
- In February, UKOT presents Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff, "a comedy … fit for a Queen", at the Lexington Opera House. The show will be sung in Italian, with English supertitles. Show times are: 7:30 p.m., February 24; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., February 25; and 2 p.m., February 26. Tickets are $40 adults, $37 seniors and UK faculty/staff, $15 students.
